Tournament golf college Modules


Weekly structure is programmed around a 7 day week with physical and mental work programmed in around recovery sessions. Everything is planned in the mind-set of improving the golf performance outcome.  Teaching is done in a variety of styles such as:

  • Practical workshops in varied locations (golf course, laboratory, gym, walks)
  • Experimental learning (teach-practical-reflect)
  • Group critiques (in-class presentations and activities)
  • External specialists guest speakers and workshops
  • Group tutorials (specific information and material)
  • Video viewing and analysis

 

The modules are designed to create solid foundation knowledge and principles in the first year which is then built on, expanded and developed through years 2 and 3. Developing both transferable academic skills as well as practically applying knowledge is a key focus of the course.

Year 1 Modules BSC (HONS) and FDSC - APPLICATION
Training and Periodisation Understanding how to train, adapt and recover in your golf. Knowledge to plan your macro cycles to weekly balance from flexibility to strength sessions
Introduction to Psychology of Golf

Foundation concepts such as confidence and self-esteem, pre-performance routines, post-performance reflection.

Golf Tour Business

Core business skills, booking on tour, management companies, PR… how to promote you and understand the game as a business.

Brand and Image

Portraying yourself, defining branding, loyalty, responsibilities and key communications. How do you want to be represented?

Professional Golf Development

Develop the strategic thinker, reflection and goal setting through tournament play in Portugal. Development pathway of a professional.

Academic Development

Key skills of research and structured writing and verbal presenting communication. Know your strengths and blind spots.

Golf Psychology

More advanced key concepts including psychological assessment, profiling/monitoring and applying psychological interventions/strategies.

Global Sports Communications

Learning about business in sport on a global scale. Initiating campaigns and engaging with media for sponsorship opportunities.

Golf Swing Science

Understanding the mechanical phases of your swing, interpreting analysis data like Flightscope. Learning about trajectory and ball flight.

Professional Golf Experience

How to perform your own statistical analysis and significance of data. Designing and managing your own project collecting golf specific data.

Research Methods

How to perform your own statistical analysis and significance of data. Designing and managing your own project collecting golf specific data.

Conditioning for Performance

Understanding how a Professional golfer is supported from all aspects of sport science team and the impact around training and competition, preparation and recovery.

Golf Psychology

Reinforcing knowledge and understanding in the practical setting. Psychological strategies and assessments and mental skills training.

Sports Sponsorship

Globalisation and demographics, sustainability and business ethics. Strategy and structure to organisations within the golfing community.

Golf Swing Mechanics

Analysing your own sports science support and its effects on performance, knowing your performance profiling and what you need to succeed.

Professional Golf Experience

To enable you to research and create an idea for contributing to golf research.  You will manage, collect,  interpret and present formal documentation of your outcomes, addressing hypothesis and findings. These skills are important for time management, organisation and communication of information.
